Why does people eat even though they weren't hungry?

Food is one of our basic needs and it keeps us alive. We usually eat foods just to fill our empty stomach or rather we're just being hungry and our stomach need it, but some people eat foods even though they weren't hungry. Any clues why? Let me give you 3 reasons why:

Emotional Reasons

I always eat ice cream whenever I'm feeling down and sad because in some way it comforts me. Emotions are a common eating trigger. It is very common to people to eat because of their emotional reasons even when they weren't hungry. They eat because: they're happy and want to celebrate; they're sad and want to sooth themselves with comforting food; they're angry and want to take out all their anger to the spoon and fork, rather to the person whose responsible for making him/her feeling that way.

Out of boredom

You're eating just because you're bored. Some people think that it's a good solution whenever they got nothing to do. Eating food can be their sort of entertainment and it relieves boredom.

Other people are eating

This kind of scenario is always happening to us. Just like when you're in your house, classroom, office or wherever you are and you don't have any appetite to eat but as soon as you see your family, classmates, officemates or other people eat, they'll be the one to trigger you to eat too.

If you have any reasons why people eat even though they weren't hungry, kindly share us your thoughts.
